About Up For It Teachers

The Up For It Teachers website has been put together to support several initiatives run by the University of Portsmouth.

Up For It Juniors

UP for It Juniors provides a service for children and schools in the local area, encouraging them to think about their futures and their wider community, through a series of activities and resources. The main aim is to increase children’s confidence and aspirations alongside the National Curriculum and Government Agendas and to aid their transition from Primary to Secondary School.

What is UP for It Juniors?

UP for It Juniors is an extension to the University’s UP for It membership scheme for 11-16 year olds. Launched in January 2006, we now have 33 member schools in Portsmouth and South East Hampshire and we reach over 3000 primary aged children.

UP for It Juniors creates a link between local primary schools and The University of Portsmouth, assisting children with the transition from primary to secondary school. We provide activities both in school and at the university and also a range of curriculum resources developed specifically for schools.

UP for It Juniors aims to help children:

  • raise their aspirations
  • think about their futures
  • increase their confidence levels
  • interact with the wider community

Up For Sport

The UP for Sport scheme establishes routes for staff and students to share their existing sporting skills by setting up appropriate volunteer coaching opportunities. Volunteers are encouraged to undertake appropriate National Governing Body coaching and officiating awards, thereby gaining formal qualifications as a result of their coaching activities.
